Vector/Weed Control Seasonal Monitor

DEPARTMENT:                         Vector Control District (Vale, OR)
POSITION STATUS:                       Seasonal (up to 40 hrs/wk May through September not to exceed 595 hours)
SALARY:                                        $15/hr

JOB DUTIES: 2 contract seasonal positions responsible for the surveying and monitoring of mosquito larvae and weeds in the field and the application of pesticides; identify mosquito species and test for West Nile; hand or manual removal of selected weed species. Complete accurate and detailed records of surveying and monitoring results. Must have skill in the safe operation of an ATV as well as the use GPS units for location of data collection. Hours of work will vary including early mornings, late evenings with possible work on the weekends. Work is performed in the field subjecting employee to adverse conditions. SCREENING REQUIREMENTS: Six months experience in pest or weed control work in the private or public pest control agency or a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training. Must have a trainee’s license from the Department of Agriculture. Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. One of the two positions must be Jordan Valley resident. Background checks will be completed.
