RE: Primary Election, May 18, 2010
Last day for new Oregon voter registrations/Date ballots mailed
April 27, 2010, at 5:00 pm, is the last day for new Oregon voters to register to vote for the May 18, 2010 Primary Election or for anyone wanting to change political party affiliation for the Primary Election. Postmarks will count. Voter registration cards can be found at the County Clerk's office in Vale, the Department of Motor Vehicles office in Ontario, the County/City Libraries, and the area post offices. Voter registration cards can also be downloaded from the county clerks website at www.malheurco.org.
Ballots will be mailed to all active registered voters in the county between Friday, April 30th and Tuesday, May 4th. If you do not receive a ballot by Tuesday, May 11th, please contact the County Clerks office.
April 28th is the last day for the State to mail, 1 to each household, the Voters' Pamphlet for the Primary Election. Contact your local post office if your household does not receive one.

The deadline for filing for the Primary Election was March 9 and is now closed.
The following is the list of positions that were open and the candidates who have filed to run.

Re: Filing for the May 18, 2010 Primary Election
Donald W. Hodge, a Republican, of Vale has filed for the partisan office of County Commissioner, Position #1. No one else has filed as of this date.
February 1, 2010 was the first date to file for Precinct Committee Person. No one has filed as of this time. In order to qualify, filing candidates must be a member of one of the major political parties (Democrat or Republican) for at least 180 days before the filing deadline or for candidates elected by write-in, 180 days before the date of the primary.
The following have filed for the open nonpartisan offices:

County Treasurer, incumbent Jennifer Forsyth
Justice of the Peace, incumbent Terry Thompson
All open offices will accept filings until March 9, 2010.

RE: January 26, 2010 Special Election
Malheur County has received a 38% voter turnout as of Thursday, January 21, 2010 at noon.
Tuesday, January 26, 2010, is Election Day. All voted ballots must be received at the County Clerks Office or in an Official Ballot Drop Box by 8:00 pm, on Election Day. Postmarks DO NOT count. With only a few days remaining until the deadline, we recommend using an Official Ballot Drop Box for returning voted ballots.
If you have not received your ballot or have a question regarding your ballot, please contact the Clerks Office immediately.

January 5, 2010, at 5:00 PM, is the last day for new Oregon voters to register to vote for the January 26, 2010, Special State Election. Postmarks will count. Voter registration cards can be found at the County Clerks office in Vale, the Department of Motor Vehicles office in Ontario, the County/City Libraries, and the area post offices.

RE: Malheur County Elections
Malheur County, Oregon will not be having an Election in November.
However, we have been notified by the Secretary of State’s office that we will be having a Special Election, January 26, 2010 for 2 state measures.
Ballots for the January 26, 2010 election will be mailed between January 8th and January 12th. The last day for new Oregon voters to register to vote for the January election is January 5, 2010.
The last day for the State voters’ pamphlet to be mailed to each household, BY THE STATE, is January 16th.

VOTER TURNOUT/DEADLINE
As of noon Monday, May 11, 2009, we have only 20 percent voter turnout. Voted ballots must be received in the Clerks office or in one of the drop boxes, no later than 8:00 pm, Tuesday, May 19th, in order to be verified (signature on the return envelope compared with signature on most current voter registration card), opened and counted.

RE: May 19, 2009, District Election
The Special District Director Election will be May 19, 2009. The deadline for filing for director positions on school, fire, cemetery, road, health and library districts is Thursday, March 19th, at 5:00 PM.
Candidates may pick up filing forms from the districts or from the County Clerks office in Vale. Candidates may file by declaration, $10.00 filing fee or by nominating petition, signatures from within the district being filed for (contact the district or County Clerks office for number of signatures required).
