Food Handler Certification

  • Certified Food Protection Manager

    • Food Manager Certification will be required in Oregon food service facilities starting in 2029 to provide food service managers with in-depth knowledge of proper food safety practices to train staff in their facilities.

At least one person shall be a certified food protection manager by 1/1/29.

At least one person in charge working each day shall be a certified food protection manager.  A certified person in charge must be present during the hours of operation that represents the highest food safety risk to the food establishment by 1/1/31.

  • Malheur County Environmental Health is offering ServSafe® Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) course. It is an 8-hour training course designed to instruct you on food safety management practices sanctioned by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. This certification is valid for 5 years and provides the knowledge necessary to meet state and national standards.

  • Oregon Food Handler

    • Food service workers are required to obtain a food handler card within 30 days of beginning work. The cost of the card is $10.00 and the card is valid for three years. Food handler cards issued in any county are valid throughout Oregon. If you have a valid food manager training certificate, it is accepted in lieu of a food handler card. Food handler cards issued in other states are not valid in Oregon. The following is a list of places a food handler card can be obtained
    • The State of Oregon requires every commercial food worker involved in public food handling and preparation to get a certified food handlers card.  The food handlers card is valid for 3 years, and you can access the training for 1 year. Reprint your card as needed.
